How will Google Instant change your browsing habits? More importantly, how Google Instant adapt to your questions? We conducted our own experience
So now that we have determined that Google is an instant saving of time, to restore from 8.3 minutes to 20.8 minutes per week for users who make 50 searches per day Google, Larry Dignan and I started getting fun experimenting with the research themselves.
Also: Meet Instant Google: Results of queries are typed
Google said the ranking does not change with Instant - but we tried to understand whether the research was adapted for users based on personal history (for Google account holders that are connected) or location. Our conclusion: location matters.
For example, Larry, who is based in the Philadelphia area, New York, typed in "EA" and saw the results that led to the "Eagles" as the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.
Being here in Silicon Valley, California, I saw the results that have made more sense, bringing with "Earthquake":
Does that mean that the personal story of research has nothing to do with the results?I certainly would not go that far - but I put more weight on the impact of geolocation. When I logged into my Google account and conducted the same research, the results were the same.
Of course, our own queries to add the database of Google's popular search, enabling the firm to build in this prediction technology. But what does this mean for your own privacy? What about the search engine optimization? Google is really the end Snapshot SEO?
It seems premature to make quick judgments on Google instant. After all, it only live for a couple of hours. Try your own experiments with Google instantaneous and let us know your findings. I suspect this will be another of those love-it-or-hate-it kinds of tools.
